When Lady Gaga's stylist said he regretted some of her outfits this week perhaps he had a premonition of this one.
Stepping out from her New York hotel on Saturday, the singer donned a cage like headpiece that was reminiscent of the one worn by famous Hollywood cannibal Hannibal Lecter.
The Born This Way star is known for her outlandish costumes but even this one seemed to be pushing her own boundaries.
The black cage enclosed the whole of the singer's newly blonded head and was accessorised by a golden cherub and chains.
Gaga seemed sheepish at first as she walked out of the hotel but then quickly got into character and flashed a peace sign at fans and photographers.

Surprising, the rest of the 26-year-old's outfit was tame by her standards.
Gaga wore a black leather jacket over a lace frilled-sleeve shirt and clack horse riding-inspired pants.
