It was Katie Holmes' first Christmas as a singleton since her divorce from Tom Cruise six months ago.
But if the star, 33, was feeling down beat she certainly didn't let it show as she stepped out in New York on Wednesday.
Katie - ever the professional - put on a brave face and smiled determinedly as she arrived for work the day after Christmas.
Tom revealed on December 10 that he would be spending Christmas Day with Suri, six, and his older children Bella, 20, Connor, 17.
'We have got lots of very special things planned [for the holidays],' he said. 'We are all going to be together. I am looking forward to it.'
Surie also spent Thanksgiving with her Mission: Impossible star dad in London, according to reports.
Katie, 34, is currently starring in the play Dead Accounts at the Music Box Theatre in the Big Apple and as she arrived for another night treading the boards she looked friendly and calm ahead of her performance.
Dressed in blue jeans and a dark blue coat Katie looked wholesome and younger than her years.
It is not clear yet what her privileged youngster got for Christmas but speculation has been rife for weeks.
Suri is rumoured to have received a $24,000 Grand Victorian Playhouse complete with running water and electricity, a sun-room, an eat-in-kitchen, a media room and intercoms can connect the playhouse to the main house.
